Coaching experts that can be very useful in clearing the exam -

1. Understand the syllabus and pattern

Before you start preparing for the exam, the preliminary step should be to understand the exam syllabus
and pattern. CDS Question Paper pattern for IMA, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy has three
papers: -

Paper 1 - English

Paper 2 - General Knowledge, and

Paper 3- Mathematics

For CDS OTA, the question paper pattern includes two papers - Paper 1- English, and Paper 2-General
Knowledge. Check the syllabus and paper pattern and plan your study accordingly.

2. Practice Mathematics

We all know Mathematics is all about practice. You cannot cram Mathematics and score well in the
exam. The candidates should practice Math problems as much as they can. The questions in CDS exam
are framed from the syllabus of 11th and 12th mathematics, but their difficulty level is high. So, ensure
that all your concepts are clear. Almost 40% of Math paper has questions from Geometry and
mensuration. The remainder of the topics includes the likes of Algebra, HCF/LCM etc.

3. English and GK

In these two sections, the candidates can score good marks. Read current affairs and about different
general knowledge areas to do well in that part. English is the most high-scoring subject as you can
score well if you have a decent understanding of English.

4. Time management is the key

Time is of utmost importance here. The time management in the mathematics paper is an important
thing to ensure. The time given for General Knowledge paper is sufficient. To get better at managing
time in Mathematics, candidates must practice Math problems well.

5. Solve previous years papers

It is important for the candidates to get some study material like reference books and previous year
questions papers. Study material helps candidates study in the right direction and also contains example
questions and previous year’s questions for a better understanding. Solve previous year’s question
papers to grasp subjects. However, for thorough CDS preparation, it is always better to get enrolled in a
CDS Coaching Institute.
A career in the Indian Defence Forces is matter of pride and honor as you will be representing the
nation. Together with the status, you get a secure job with an assortment of other perks. Of course
there are innumerable challenges to qualify the CDS exam, but it is always worth the effort. You can
